Mommy and Me Exercises

As a mother to two sons, I know that after giving birth it was a priority for me to try and get back into shape. I actually enjoy exercising, but when the boys were really young I wanted to try and maximize my time, energy and connect with them while still getting a work out. There are a few things out there that really worked for me that I wanted to share.

Stroller Strides – after Charlie was born I was determined to get the weight off while still out on maternity leave. I had heard of an exercise group called Stroller Strides www.strollerstrides.com and decided to give it a try. I envisioned ladies casually walking around the neighborhood without breaking much of a sweat – boy was I wrong. The instructor was a task master that not only got our heart rates up but pushed us beyond our limits while also keeping the kids entertained. For example, we would be faced with running up and down 100 stairs ten times in a row.  Our children would remain in their strollers at the bottom of the stairs and the instructor would sing and entertain them while the mommies were hard at work. I not only met my goal weight, but I was in the best shape of my life while having a moving mommies group. I connected with other mom’s in the same stage as me and there are some I am still connected with today three years later.
